Temporary, for while she's growing. I was told they do better outside, but a community stable is in the works for when she and her siblings are bigger.
It's basically just a place for her to go to when I'm not here and can't take her with me. [He's thinking ahead, okay.
The chicabo's head tilts at the movement, making her way out of Reaper's hood that she'd been napping in to half perch on his shoulder and
headbutt 76's hand for affection. Affectionate creatures, really. Little wings flapping in happiness even.]
Neither have I, just got a basic run down and list of food she can eat. You would still have a better idea than me here.
[The roll of eyes was almost audible-] I was thinking more structure focus. I built it and attached it to the house. I want to make sure it's structurally sound and warm enough for her.
[AkA He wanted a second set of eyes to look over this and the first person who came to mind who wouldn't bullshit him was.. This asshole.
Reaper was silent for a moment before he was carefully lifting the bird from his shoulder/hood and into both hands. A way that it would be easier for 76 to take-]
Sure, just mind the claws. They're sharp and Roxy's a baby.
I've held chicks. [Just not any as big as this one. But he'll take her gently, and carefully look her over. As far as he can tell, she seems healthy...]
[Very friendly thing, too. While being looked over the chicabo is definitely trying to press close for cuddles- there may have been a reason Reaper had been letting her just nest there in his hood.
Kept her still.]
Short for Roxanne. [Didn't even ask for her back yet, like he figured Morrison wouldn't drop her as he was heading for the back door of the house-]
C'mon then.
[It may or may not have looked like a small room attached to the house once they were out the back door. Had it's own door and everything and was actually big enough for a few people to stand in without feeling crowded.
And some nest-like bedding and things. Some little bird-safe toy ball in there don't ask.]
[...really, Reyes. Really. Jack gets it, of course, and he makes a snort of a not-laugh as he follows Reaper in to the room. He arches a brow - you built this? - but instead gets down to more business.]
Hold old is she?
[The friendliness might be a need for warmth, he notes in the back of his mind.]
[It was something he couldn't help and Roxanne was a good name all the same.
There's even a light flicked on in there, turning to hold his hands out in some silent asking to the chicabo back, just in case Morrison didn't want to keep holding her. Could if he wanted, but hey.]
Not very, picked her up on the 14th. [Y e a h.] Just old enough she didn't need to stick around with her mother.
[She's happy enough to return to him, and she even cuddles in against his chest. Reaper cradling her easily with one arm, her tucking into the crook, head rested against his chest with some pleased little chick sound.
Idly petting along the feathers of her back and head.]
One of my concerns, if this place would be warm enough for her. Still winter and all.
[His head cocked to one side-]
Figured she'd make for a good companion for my trips once she was big enough. Weirdly cute, and be worth the time and effort training her. [Glancing down at her nuzzling against his chest.] Know I'll have someone at my back if I need it.
Reaper probably didn't mean those words the way they hit Jack, but some actual frost glistens on his shoulders before he turns away. It could easily be just to investigate the shack, but mask or not, it keeps him from betraying his feelings more than he has.
Even his body language is tight. Tense.
It takes a few moments for him to respond. When he does, his voice is quiet, but even. Forcibly so]
Maybe a heat pad. Could build something to absorb heat, too, keep going throughout the night.
[Reaper leaned back against one of the walls, not even a creak to it with how sturdy he'd managed to build the place; at least there din't seem to be a draft, so it could have been worse. Even if he'd only been bringing the chick out here to get used to the area while
letting her stay inside with him. Literally, she was on her way to being house trained if he had anything to say about it.
He did glance up at the tone, brow furrowed behind the mask for a moment.]
Be a bit tricky, for the moment the best I could do is some sort of warm bedding.
[The words hadn't been directed at Morrison in anyway. He'd asked and Gabriel had answered, something else on his mind with them.]
Plenty of it, then. Enough so she can burrow if she needs to. [There's a few other things he points out, notably - or not - without so much as glancing towards Reaper. Still, he can't help but admit,] I'm making guesses here, based on chicks. You said she'd get as big as a horse- like an ostrich?
If you mean two legged, yeah. Literally big as a horse. [She was going to be B I G once she was near done growing.
He stepped away from the wall after a moment, sure his approach was heard before nudging 76 with an elbow of the free arm. A silent Want to hold her again or...? without saying much.] Think I can work on the begging thing, though.
[The passing of Roxy, who seems pretty damned content so long as she can snuggle and be pet. He'd tired her out earlier, honestly. High energy already.]
Some breeds can but I don't think she's one of them. Like some have magic and others are physically stronger, a will to fight alongside those they've bonded with and all that.
[Fingers curled before he was setting a hand against his mask and pulling it off, hand smoothing over facial hair as the bone white just.. vanished.]
[He shouldn't be surprised. And yet, sometimes he still is. Though, really, he's more surprised by the fact Reaper's removing the mask, even just to rub his face, and he can't help but look back at him with his own expression hidden by his mask]
Magic, and it apparently depends on what color they are the type it is.
[It sounded like a video game, but he was keeping that to himself.
Gabriel looked tired, dark circles under his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose and eyes closed. Maybe he was taking on more despite already having a lot to do, but it was better than sitting around doing nothing.]
Wonder if they'll remain like that as she gets older.
[Oh, right. This never came up while they'd been out hunting, had it?]
Before we went out after the umbratalons I found a very malnourished cat and took her in, turned out she was just a few days away from having kittens, too. [Thank you for staying at the house while he was gone Zenyatta.]...

but all that aside, he's just going to...stare. for a moment.]
The hell is that.
no subject
Something called a chocobo.
[Of course Reaper had already moved a hand up to pet over those fluffy baby feathers, the chicabo nuzzling against his hand with happy little sounds.]
Grow up big enough to be ridden, more or less the horses of where they come from.

[Okay, it is kind of cute. He'll grant it that. After a moment, Jack reaches out to touch it, himself, slowly and carefully]
You realize I've never seen one of these before.
